The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Okay. So maybe it had it’s moments but jeebus! Except for that part waaaaaaay in… Starts before Bilbo is done with Gollum. They’re screwed by the goblins, then right up until the Eagles pick them up. Before and after that though…

I was hard pressed to pay that much attention. Of course it could be me… And my gnat like attention span. But I don’t think so, because I can do other things that take patience. Or concentration.

I guess I may need to give the book another read. Been a few years since the last time. Maybe after I finish “Nothing to Envy: Ordinary Lives in North Korea”

As an LOTR nerd, I was SO disappointed in the Hobbit. Seems to me like they ditched characterization and good dialogue for lots and lots of boring CGI.

That's disappointing.

Well, saves me a couple hours in my life, I guess!

Oh I dunno. Other folks liked it. A LOT. Just not me. And some other folk.

I always thought so too. Been no small amount of years though.

I hear they took quite a few liberties with the plot from the original book. Since that was a favorite of mine from childhood, I've been iffy about seeing the movie. :)
