Well A Truck is a Truck is a Truck...

Been a long time since I drove a full size any kind of vehicle. My last 3 vehicles have been mid-size to compact cars. Is a Mini Cooper a sub-compact? Dunno, but the back seat area is quite a bit smaller than the Saturn's was. Used to have an X-Terra. And before that I had had a full size Ford Van.

Driving friend KD's extended Cab Pickup Truck felt like I was driving a BUS.

You don't maneuver so much as you signal your intentions and let the smaller shit get the hell outta your way.

That thing must DRINK gasoline like an athlete quaffs gatorade!

Glad to know I could still manage. But I don't think I'll be getting one anytime soon. *laughs*

*chuckle*

I'll bet it was a trip! The last time I parked myself into a van I felt the same way. I am not used to it at all! LOL!

I'm not either. My Mini is very nimble and quick. And I like that in a car.

That truck was like driving an elephant.

Well, that probably would have been a good experience. I learnt to drive on trucks and then a Dodge 6 cylinder sedan which could fit all 'us kids' in, so when my brother's wife wanted me to drive her to the shop (she did not have a licence), I could maneuver his big dodge into a small parking lot of the supermarket - I had not lost my touch! I was a bit afraid I would not be able to do it, but I was. I was used to driving small sedans by then. Yes, it is good to know we can still do it. Also, I have recently driven dad's 4WD, and that was a really nice experience. I am in love with that vehicle - but I would not like to pay the fuel or registration costs. So, I can understand that you might not want to get one anytime soon :)

Here, the trucks all manage to keep in their lane in the city. I give them room but they don't seem to need it.

It was fine. Probably wouldn't take long to get used to it, but the fuel costs would eat me alive.

Definitely on the drinking gasoline! I would have trouble driving a truck also. :)

I have an older Honda Accord right now. For my road trip plans, I'm thinking something like a used CRV - a bit more room and storage but not really larger in terms of maneuvering.

Almost the same footprint I think.

I'm driving a regular car for once, I don't think I could even maneuver an SUV let alone a truck. And I suck at going backwards.

Forward gears only!
