I..uh...actually I think a Wombat probably has better social skills.

I went to get my complimentary continental breakfast this morning. In the front of the hotel? Motel? Anyway...(I guess I should have known better)

I noticed this skinny blond sitting in the front room with one of those big old 17” laptops. She wasn’t what I would call spectacularly beautiful, not even very pretty. But nice if you like very skinny blond types...Not really my type, if I were working specifically from a body type. Which I don’t. She was in the corner. Alone.

Any way from my room the WiFi connection is spectacularly S-l-o-w. Almost like dial up. So after I finished eating and had cleaned up my mess, I stuck my head in the door and said in my most polite and good morningly voice, “excuse me, Are you having trouble with the WiFi connection in your room? It is so slow in mine that it might as well be dial-up!”

She looked up, frowned (Warning T’s!) and said, “I haven’t really tried. It must be the location.” *As if I didn’t know that*

“Well I’m right up front here and-”

She said something in a low voice that I didn’t quite catch, “excuse me?” I inquired.

Her expression and tone said it all. I still didn’t quite catch all she said, but the tail end was, “...and I would appreciate it if you would leave me alone...”

My blood ran cold...And my tone and expression said it all, too...”Well excuse me. I’m sorry to have bothered you, ma’am. I hope you have a better day, than your morning seems to be going.” With that I turned and walked away, and out the front door to have a smoke and cool off. Saw her eyebrows shoot up out of the corner of my eye as I rounded he corner.

Why do people have to be that way? I wasn’t trying to pick her up or anything like that. As I said, she wasn’t my type. Did she have to try and make me as pissed off as she seemed to be? Whatever...Just needed to get that off my chest.

I am pretty sure a Wombat has better social skills...

So, my daughter is a vegetarian. Nothing wrong with that as long as she is eating nutritiously...Being the sensible human being she is, she usually does. (must get that from her mother! *grins*)

Excuse me for a moment, flickr uploader is trying to get my attention. Rather than torturing myself and the broadband connection (not!) here, I’ll forgo any further uploads. At least until I get somewhere with real broadband. That said, I’ve got a few from lunch.

Here is The Offspring:

This is one of three I took that she let me keep.

Then she must have felt obligated to keep snapping away at me until she got one she felt qualified as “Good” Being the attention ho I am I’m gonna post them all anyway. *grin*

The many moods of TexasT’s. At Lunch...On the occasion of his fiftieth *Am I really that old?* birthday Cue the fanfare!

Down the beach. It is all about the upgrades you know? Went from a standard, dinky, old and dated room, to a king “suite”. Gots a Kings size bed, A nice desk area, fridge, nicer bathroom...Balcony. All for the same price I was paying for the standard room in that older, dated motel.

Of course it’s further down the beach. But I don’t care. I’m here for the solitude anyway. I always get a no smoking room (even though I smoke) because the smoking rooms just stink. So the balcony is a bonus, so I don’t have to wander outside if I don’t want to.

But yeah, I had a pretty good day. The Offspring drove down from Houston and met me at Guido’s where I pigged out on shrimp and beer! And while we were there I had a call from [info]alleycat2681 to wish me a Happy B-day too! My girls are goood.

After lunch The Offspring and I wandered around the strand for a while, till she had to go back to town. I then drove down the seawall and headed for the ferry that goes to the Bolivar Peninsula and cruised on 87 through Crystal Beach and beyond, until it dead ends, basically in the ocean. That road was never the same after Hurricane Alicia, I think, way back in the 1980’s. I can remember driving down 87 and even before Alicia, the Gulf was mighty close to the road. Matter of fact I’d seen it up and over the road before that. It finally did just wash out...After that I turned around and headed back.

Took over 70 pictures today. Some of them might even make it to flickr! Haha! Probably won’t get them uploaded here. The freakin’ connection seems to be really slow.

Anyhoo, I need to go out and scavenge some dinner, apparently while a handfull of pictures uploads...thbthbthb! More laterzzz!

It is a beautiful day down here. Little cool, but otherwise sunshiny and bright. Had myself a good breakfast, next door @ Denny’s.

The Offspring will be joining me for lunch today. Think we’ll pig out at Gaido’s and then maybe take a stroll on the Strand. She’s got to go back to town for rehearssal for the show tomorrow night.

Bet I am hogging about all of this LaQuinta’s bandwidth as I am uploading a small movie and around 12 pictures I too this AM after coffee but before breakfast.

I give you:

One of the reasons I like coming down here is the funky architecture that only seems to happen in a beach town...

Need a beach condo?

Roadtrip_Galveston027.JPG

How about a house one block off the seawall?

Decision time though. Do i want to stay here or move down the beach? Probably depends on the moola factor. Wonder what time checkout time is. *grins*

And I should have brought some flannel!

Little chilly here this morning. In the fifties. Not too bad. Cold wind coming off the gulf and right in my door. Been waiting for sun rise...I forgot to open the curtains and I very nearly missed it!. I’ll have photos in a bit. But here this ought to hold you...

Surf at Night

The Tide was in last night and seemed to stop just a few feet from the seawall! I don’t remember the tide coming ing in that close...

I blew in late last night around nine or so. I stopped to visit with Michele and Richard. The gave me a two and a half pound can of CASHEWS! Those two are nuts! NUTS I say! *grin* Then I stopped in to see Nancy and Ivan and hung out with them for a bit. Talked about just how crazy my life seems to be right about now...

Once I got checked in I went in search of diner. Stopped in at HOOTers. Watched a bit of the NBA all Star game there and drank a couple of Heinekens and had a burger. This HOOTers is out over the water of the gulf.

Lastly, Here is a billboard that makes a statement to me:

Exhaust

Edit: Just saw some dude outside in shorts, his t-shirt indicated he's from Sauk, Wisconsin! Dude! Put on some clothes!
