New PC Tip

Ever wanted to use on of those special characters that are not present on the standard keyboard?
Like:

© or ç or ¼

But you didn't know where they came from? Well...Have I got a tip for you!

  1. Click the Start menu, choose All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Character Map.
  2. Make sure that your current font appears in the Font box.
If the font you’re using in your document isn’t showing, click the Font box’s down arrow and select your font from the drop-down list.
  1. Scan the Character Map box until you see the symbol you’re after; then pounce on that character with a double-click.
The symbol appears in the Characters to Copy box.
  1. Right-click in the document where you want the symbol to appear and choose Paste.
The symbol appears, conveniently using the same font as your document.

Alternately you can use an [ALT] + key combination. The character map conveniently shows this combination to you when you click the desired symbol. For instance when I click on the ¢ it shows me the the [ALT] + key combination is [ALT]+0162. To do this, simply press and hold the [ALT] key and then type: 0162. When you relerase the [ALT] key the character you chose should appear in your document. Unfortunately not all of the characters in the character map have these [ALT] + codes. These symbols are all present in ASCII code. It just takes a little (very little) more work to get to them.

Despite whatever jules_perox might tell you! I repeat...TexasT's is in no way, shape or form responsible for the weather you are currently experiencing.

Unless of course it happens to be gloriously nice weather! Then TexasT's is perfectly willing to take full responsibility for that!
