Notes From the Road.

I was thinking with all the rain in CO, I can wait another day or so before I head up there. Still raining here in Chama too.

Had to drive to a Walmart, of all places, I needed to buy a hoody. Been chilly here at night. It's frickin' great up here (except for the wet stuff), but the distance you have to drive to do things like grocery shop would be a serious buzz kill. 50 odd miles, one way, just to get to a Walmart.

When I got back from that little side trip, I was looking around and an elk cow, and calf strutted up in the mostly empty lot next door and grazed on whatever it was they were grazing on. I got the long glass onto the camera and got a few shots before they wandered off.

Sitting here drinking some coffee, and watching it rain... *sigh*

New love is a wonderful thing to see. Was sitting in the High Country saloon in Chama. Had dinner, rainbow trout. Yum! Drank a few amber beers brewed out of Moriarty, New Mexico. Tasty stuff.

A couple came in after I finished the fish, sat next to me. Interesting. They've known each other for over 20 years and apparently recently fell in together. So cool to watch. Vicariously, of course.

Altitude continues to be an issue. I've gotten headaches of some kind, at least once a day. And just walking takes a bit of an effort. And an inhaler. I expected this, so not a big deal.

Have been hoping to get some night sky shots, but it's been overcast every night I've been in the high country. I need some practice with that type of thing.

Getting pictures uploaded continues to be an issue. Wifi crashes when I stack things up. Hell, half the time I'm not even sure any email I'm sending is getting through.

Lil' Red has been great. Only one little fly in the ointment. It's got these low pressure tire sensors. They keep telling me I've got a low tire. I think these things don't like gravel road surfaces. I've checked the pressure and I'm just not seeing it.

Been trying to upload **ONE** photo from my phone. Been about 10 minutes with no progress. I surrender.

Jeebus! Interesting Day

I've been carrying an iBrick around with me since I left Tucumcari. I talked to AT&T while
I was still in Santa Fe. The guy told me there was an outage due to weather. Okay so I'll get service if I leave the area or just wait it out. I moved on to Chama on Thursday. Still no service.

Went to a local watering hole for lunch and was talking to the bartender about it while I ate my lunch. As luck would have it, she's with AT&T. No problem with her phone. So after I finished eating I cruised back to the motel and got AT&T on the phone. We ascertained that my SIM card was compromised. I needed a replacement.

Annnnnnd the nearest place to get a replacement? Farmington, NM. 112 MILES AWAY. In the rain. So I made the trip. What could I do?

Had people looking for me. Every time I'd get to a place with half decent wifi, my phone would blow up with texts and email. And then crater when I replied the phone would crater. I wasn't sure if anything I sent was getting out. Back in Chama now.

And got these on the way.
