Well Fuuuuuuuuuuu - !!!

Looks like I have a catastrophic disk failure on my hands. Looks like the last update to iTunes has crashed my external media drive. **LOOKS** like it but probably **IS** just a failure. Neither of my Macs will even **READ** the damned thing. Not good. Haven't tried the thinkpad yet, but (unfortunately) I'm prepared for the worst case scenario. This drive may be dead.

I have a couple of spare external drives around but I'm going to need a relatively secure back up strategy put in place immediately. Don't get me wrong I have backups of most everything else. Just not THAT drive. Kinda stupid since it is the single biggest investment I've made digitally. AHEM!

Looks like my iPod does indeed have all of my stuff on it. Which is a good thing.

*Pretty sure* I'll be able to recover, but jee bus! I really did not need this to happen right now. Better things to do with my time, eh?

As I said above…

Fuuuuuuuuuuu - !!!

Got to be the dumbest thing I've done in quite some time.

This Too Shall Pass

Formatting an old 500 GB drive I had been using for backups a while back. Secure formatting can take some time. Heh.

And nothing I had on there was that important.

… Yes it was.

This will be my "new" media drive. Damn shame though. The other was firewire and this sucker is USB 2.0. Gotta use what I have here

Anyway. All cool.

Speaking of cool. It's frickin' pretty cool outside! Looks like I had a low of about 45F on the patio this morning. High so far today has been about 53F.

And Yes. I tuned the furnace on this morning. Because I was cold.

OMFG! When it Rains

It pours.

It looks like my old MacBookPro (from 2007) might be giving up the ghost. It's been running exceedingly hot lately. Hot enough it shut down once or twice. Got a usb cooler under it, buuuuuuuut… I've just had to do a reboot and now it seems it will not restart.

Not quite sure what the Hell is going on around here, but I have to admit, I'm starting to get a little nervous.

I've shut it down to let it cool off a bit and will try again later.

I don't think it will break my heart if it dies. Sure, I'll be upset. It's been my workhorse computer for quite some time. Made mods to it over the years. I put one of those hybrid hard drives in it a couple years ago. It boots really fast, 45 seconds or less usually, so I KNOW something is seriously wrong here.

Cracked the display on it a year or so back and that has been progressing towards un-usability. I was going to replace the LCD after I got a job, but if the thing is croaking anyway, well pfffffft!

I'll yank the drive and maybe put it in my MacMini or use it as a backup drive. Wait. What?!
