Would somebody explain to me just what is the deal with testimonials her on LJ? Maybe I’m dense, but I just don’t get the point of this activity. Or is it just the latest thing? Seen a bunch of requests lately for the things.
Since the last incident of the shaking floor here at casa d’TexasT’s I’ve tried to be really careful with the amount of noise that I make. To the point of playing my 360 with headphones on rather than over the my stereo system. Works all right, got nice Bose on ear headphones for this... It isn’t quite dolby 5.1 surround, but I can deal. With the speaker system I could even hear things sneaking up behind me. Through the headphones it’s still there, but I’m just not used to the difference yet. It can make the difference between fragging and being fragged though. Again I can deal.
I just kicked my kix off a while ago when I sat down to eat a PB and J, chips and a glass of milk. There came from below a couple of whacks on my floor. I could not have been made that much noise. The shoes are Rockports and easily the lightest air of athletic type shoes I’ve ever owned.
Gonna have to be a come to Jesus meeting soon. I hate conflict... I’d rather compromise. Because I’d like to know what the hell is going on down there.
Been Cold All Day...
Today. I mean literally since I locked the door of my apartment, I’ve been kinda shivery all day. The west side of the 15th floor at Cube City is known for being a little chilly. And it was chilly out today as well. I ended up wearing a hoody all day inside and augmenting this with my jacket when I went outside.
I was freezing all day. Better here at the apt. But WTF?!?
These are Goals. Not Resolutions.
I have a few that are rolling around in my noggin. They just haven’t gelled yet.
Was talking to someone the other day about the fact that I cannot make New Years Resolutions. If I do, I am bound to fail. But this is what I said to the other LJ-er:
Not that it really matters to anyone but me...
For me setting New Year's Resolutions is setting myself up for a big FAIL. I know it is just a word, but if I call them that I'll ignore them. Better (for me) to call them "Goals". Further they should be SMART goals. This is straight out of a corporate handbook, but it does seem to work... Not everyone knows these either.
S = Specific
M = Measurable
A = Attainable
R = Realistic
T = Timely
Goals should be straightforward and emphasize what you want to happen.
Specific = What are you going to do?, why you want to do it?, and how it is to be accomplished.
Measurable = If you can't measure it, how do you know there is progression?
Attainable = The goal should stretch you, but not so far that you feel it cannot be done.
Realistic = The goal should be do-able. Not easy. But do-able. Make a plan of how to get there.
Timely = Set a timeline for accomplishment. Goes hand in hand with Measurement part. Without a timeline goals seem to be vague and then I am apt to fall off.
I have some vague specifics *LOL* in mind, but they haven't really gelled yet where they can be considered SMART.
Small bites along the way so that when one milestone is met you can see the next one as well.
And the list should be kind of short (or at least not big) so that they can remain attainable and you don't feel overwhelmed.
When The Big Clam first adopted these, years and years ago, the rank and file hated them. Still do. But the techniques seem to work better in life for me than work.
At the point where I replied with this, I realized that I need to post this in my own journal. As a reminder if nothing else.
