Had dinner with The Offspring last night. She’s got a cold and was feeling poorly last night. She did give me a Steamer that she said she never used and never would. A Krups Optisteam Plus.
Want to start doing more of the fresh vegetable thing so this will help. My only concern is that before I can eat the quantities of fresh veggies is that they will rot before I get to them. Emily points out (rightly) that you can buy less if you need to and just plan and make purchases a couple of times a week.. Well yeah that works for most things. But what about stuff like lettuce and cabbage or cauliflower and such. Lettuce is so cheap though that even if you only get to half the head before it goes, you are still coming out mostly a head *Ahem!*.
So today I’ll buy a combination of fresh and frozen veges I think. You can steam frozen stuff in the thing as well.
Was supposed to do a meet-up with serene_orange last night, but it didn’t happen *See above*. Today or tomorrow, perhaps.
Like to get some pictures hung at some point this weekend. I also need to get on with scanning or re-photographing some pictures that I want to digitize.
I need to start taking pictures again. No really! Yes REALLY.
One day this week...I came across some rather interesting stuff in my closet. Now I knew this stuff was here. Mostly.
Three folders of letters
Letters from The Offspring to my Grandmother and Grandfather.
Letters from me to my Grandmother and Grandfather. I was a right cocky bastard. Some things never change.
Letters from my Mother to my Grandmother and Grandfather.
A short history of my Grandmother’s family
Supplemented by a stab that cadona and myself took at expanding that history to include her side of the family for The Offspring .
A treasure trove of pictures some dating back to the 1940’s and maybe a bit earlier. And letters starting from the 50’s. With a few postcards thrown in for spice!
A dagger that Conan the Barbarian would be proud of.
A box of some ancient paraphernalia.
The folders of letters from me and Mom to Gram were a little interesting.
The first letter from Mom was dated 1952. She actually used the word “Swell” in a sentence. “That would be really swell!”
The last was one from the early 80’s.
One from the middle was sometime in 1970. The year I became a, let’s say, difficult person to deal with. I had discovered drugs in 1969... Yes. That’s right, I was ELEVEN.
Don’t really have any plans for this weekend other than the usual weekend-y type stuff.
How about y’all?
