Dunno If Anyone Remembers

The post I did about the woman across the way that had put up one of those pavilion type things. Was in March.

Wasn't That a Mighty Wind

Well as luck would have it she put another one up yesterday. While I wasn't looking. Noticed it last night after I got back to la casita after a trip to the pool.

Looks like we are getting a bit of wind and rain from that tropical depression in the gulf.

I think if I were her, I would be thinkin' someone is tryin' to tell me something.

Like...

Do not put another one of these fuckers up here!!!

Thing was tied off to the railing in two places. It went up and over the rail while i was out on my patio. Feel bad for her, but she didn't completely listen to what I told her after the last time.

This: "Either needs to be up next to and tied off one or two of those support pillars. Or in a corner on the rails tied off on three of the verticals in at least two places.

I understand you want to create somewhere you can be outside and out of the sun, but with as windy as it can get around here, your patio may not be the best place!!" Unless it is properly anchored. Obviously it wasn't!

At least it didn't take her table and chairs with it!

Place used to be called The Veranda. And those are the verandas. Big and private.

Heh, not so private with the view you have ;)

Ha! No. At least I don't think so.

That pile is all the flowers and a lot of the leaves that were blown off the crepe myrtles that are around the pool. It was a mighty wind.

I feel sorry for her. It does seem like she didn't get the message, though :)

that's the canopy thingie I've wanted for 2 seasons but couldn't justify buying.

She should give the wreckage to me to fix...

Having owned a couple of these things, trust me you don't want the wreckage.

Damned near impossible to fix once they are pretzelated. (It is TOO a word!)

The way we justified it was we wanted both shade and cover for the torrential rains we get over the patio.

Last one survived for several years. That was before Herself and The Cool One took it down before the last serious storm we had. They didn't take it completely apart so some things got twisted and broke. Of course they left it to me to bundle and put out for the garbage.

Well..
ok. I'll think about it. I want it for pretty much the same reasons.

When its my house, maybe I'll just build a gazebo type thingie that won't fall apart...

Yeah, I dream.

Well if anchored correctly and cared for, the things last for years! Much easier to build than a gazebo...

Failed to mention that I took it down and put it back up (with help) several times.

I'm thinking about one for rental places- its gonna be years before i can afford (or have the credit rating) for my own place..

and the gazebo's attraction would be that only the screening would have to come down every year... I might not have help to take it apart, you know?

We had a very large one of these types of things blow OVER our fence and into our yard a few years back. Could have killed someone :(
