I've Been Doing Some Cooking Lately

Tonight it was Shrimp and Pork Won Ton Soup. With carrot shavings and broccoli as the veggies. Delicious. MIght have spoiled me for take out though. It was one of the more ambitious meals I've taken on.

The broth ran a bit low at the end so I had pot stickers instead. Still ate the vegetables (with what was left of the broth) as well. Was all good. A bit too heavy on the garlic and pepper flakes though. Kinda gave me heartburn.

So labor intensive. I was on my feet for quite a while preping and cooking. My legs and feet feel like they are burning up. Feet swelled up a bit. I've had ongoing circulation problems in my lower legs and feet for a few years now. Got water pills for it, but I'm wondering if they aren't just a stopgap. Still taking them of course.

I am Whipped boys and girls. Managed to get most of the kitchen cleaned up. Dishes into the dishwasher (it's running) and pots and pans and utensils washed. Had to make myself get up off the couch and go do 'em. If for no other reason, so I could make coffee in the AM. *grins*

Cooking has been an adventure kind of a deal for me. Trying to see the joy in it, but it isn't easy. I do like it when the finished product comes out the way it is supposed to. And I usually make enough for two meals. Easier to cook that way. Theleftover factor has been pretty cool too.

I'm beat...

That sounds yummy! And probably better for you than take-away.

I get sore feet and legs when I cook, too. And I get tired. I guess it's just age. Usually something I make I get three meals out of, so it's worth it. Plus having a timer is a god-send.

I find that cooking is challenging for me, too. But rewarding when something does turn out.

It was pretty good. And yes, if it comes out yummy, I suppose worth the trouble. I just wish I liked doing it more.

I think you had the soup I wanted. It sounds like a Wor Wonton soup -- my fave. I got a huge order of it last night and it was loaded with cubed chicken, some bland, plain slices of pork, one shrimp and a few slices of tasty beef along with carrots and zucchini (or some such squash) and some baby bok choy. As I was eating it, I kept thinking if I ever come back here, I'm going to have them load it up with BBQ pork (instead of plain stuff) and shrimp, and leave out the chicken. The broth and wontons were good. Yours was probably better.

I ended up eating it more like potstickers. Still tasty and I ain't sure I'd do it again. Nice to see I could make it come out all right.

I've never been able to get much joy from cooking unfortunately. Lucky for me James enjoys it, so he does the most :p

I'm with you. Rather someone else did it. But I live alone. And THAT my dear Ellie, is not likely to change anytime soon.

So I'll cook. Maybe I can learn to like it. I certainly do love to EAT!
