My name is TexasT's. I’m 58 years old (young!). I live on the southwest side in Houston, Texas, I am an unabashed Southern boy. A Texas transplant since the late 1970's. Middle aged and single (again!) with 3 grown children.

Interests are art, technology, music (all genres) reading, and learning new things. My current set of hobbies include photography, model railroading, a bit of cycling and all manner of tech type stuff...

I was raised in a military family, Dad was US Navy. We moved about every three and a half to four years when I was growing up. Bounced off both coasts and beyond before I was a teenager. I went to first grade at Pearl Harbor Elementary and 8th grade on the same base that Eisenhower used for his "Supreme Allied Headquarters" at High Wycombe at Buckinghamshire in England during WW II.

This instilled in me a desire to wander that has never waned. "Not All Those Who Wander are Lost" is very true in my case.

I started and finished High School (Class of '76) in Jacksonville, Fl. At 19 I had moved to Houston because that was "where the money was".

By the time I was 21 I was working for Shell. Started on a warehouse dock and by the end of 31 years there I was an IT Security Specialist working at One Shell Plaza. Shell helped me style myself into a kind of Jack of All Trades.

Warehouseman >> Shipping Clerk>>Hazardous Materials Disposal Specialist >> On-Contract Buyer >> Procurement Agent >> SAP Project Team member For 3 separate projects >> SAP Support Team for MM- SD -HR >> SAP Security Specialist.

That last couple of chapters found me sent all over the country and to Canada and Europe as well as the Far East for several Project Startups. I (sort of) retired in 2010. After my time there, I spent some time on my own (re)honing my Mac OS skills and then went to work as a Technical Support Tech at Comcast.

Also supplemented my income from time to time by doing various hardware and software installs and various upgrades, for a small customer base I built out of business associates, friends and acquaintances.

Technically proficient in the MS Windows area and MS Office (Word-Excel-Access-Powerpoint) suite as well as Applications within the Macintosh Realm.

I also have excellent Customer support and telephone skills. These were honed during time spent on the Global SAP Support group at Shell as well as Technical support (via telephone) at Comcast.

The man accused me of writing a dating site profile! Heh. Never even looked at one of those sites... Maybe I should... Dunno

I met Gary on Match.com. My SIL met her BF on OK Cupid. It can work.

Yeah maybe. So far they seem a bit... High maintenance. Maybe I'm just not up to the game.

I paid for a month, I'll stick it out that long.

Ah, ya baby! I had two kids by '76 and started my degree that year.

I had thought you couldn't BS me but I, too, didn't know so much of this! So, are you writing a CV to apply for jobs? It doesn't look anything like a dating bio.

From what I've heard about dating sites, they pretty much don't work. I've maybe heard of one case in my entire life where it did.

Ha! BS you? ME?!?! None of this was a secret! Or I didn't think anyway. You can catch hints of it here in my journal. A lot wasn't talked about much. But some of it was there.

He didn't ask for a CV, but I've got one.
This was for a guy who (with a partner) started a company that makes armor for Law enforcement people. He wants to hire me as their admin guy. A "friendly Texas voice" on the other end of the phone is what he called it initially.

They were meeting with some potential investors and wanted to include me as part of the staff for that purpose. As far as I can tell once the job is available, it is mine to lose. Or run with as the case may be.

He moved to Houston a few years ago, and just happened to walk into that bar I hung out in. He was sitting at the other end of the bar alone. I noticed, and sent him a beer over. He came down to thank me, and within a few hours we were talking like we'd been friends for years. A couple more visits to "my" bar and he had a whole roomful of new friends. He's a good guy and grateful to me for something I didn't really do.

But he thinks I did... I happen to think it was mostly him...

Hehe, no, I didn't think any of it was a secret :) Just there was a surprising amount that I didn't know despite of your referenced to it.

Good luck with the job...if you want it!

So odd seeing you mention High Wycombe. James lived there for a couple of years as a kid when his Dad was stationed there

Ha! Spent the better part of nine months there. One of my favorite sets of memories.

Bit of a small world, innit?
