New Year Post

Happy New Year. Really pretty glad to see 2016 off and to greet the new year.

Got to be a better year than last year. I've got issues to be sure, but hopefully I'll see the end of a couple of them, and will then be able to work on some others.

How was my NYE? A lot quieter than some I've had in the past. Not a big deal. Not really.

I spent the day sober. Which if you knew the **old me**, you might find this a bit disconcerting. I liked (or like) my *beer and my scotch*. And I wasn't averse to a *wee dram of Irish Cream* in my coffee in the morning occasionally. Not to mention I'm an old pot head too.

Of late, for various reasons I'm off all of it. Hang around long enough and I'll talk about it. I tend to talk about everything. And I used to do it here, as some of my older friends can certainly testify to.

But I digress...

So NYE I spent at home this year. Sober as a judge.
Probably more sober than a lot of judges. *laughs*

Spent a good part of the day refamiliarizing myself with the video game '*Star Craft 2*' as I seem to be a bit bored with '*Diablo 3*' at the moment. I alternated that with unpacking several boxes of books to go on shelves here at my lodgings. Throw in a couple half pots of coffee and you will have my day. Room mate made a couple of tasty dishes during the day so I did the dishes after she cooked. I ate too much of course.

Retired to my rooms at about Eleven of the clock as the roomie wanted to lay down with the dog on the sofa in the living room (she does this every night between 1000 and 1100 p.m.). She had a schedule and sticks to it even when not working. Her cats and the dog see to it that she's up by 0600 every morning.

Any way off to my room I went, I was watching some really rancid British B or C or more likely a S movie. It was pretty awful. But with all the coffee I had consumed during the day, I wasn't sleepy. And I could hear fireworks and yes, miscellaneous small arms fire. Damned people and thier fucking guns. Heard at some point today some politician was in the hospital after being struck by a bullet returning to earth. Doesn't surprise me. Where do they think those things are going to end up when fired up into the air? Idiots.

Around midnight one of my former co workers at Comcast sent out a happy New year text to me and a few other people. I responded somewhat enthusiastically. About 45 minutes to an hour later I got a text from the unknown person asking who I was?

I responded in kind, "Good question. Well who is this?" She never did identify herself as we conversed back and forth over about the next hour and a half. Honestly, she was a bit rude and I was somewhat uncomfortable, so after a while, I stopped responding. And she stopped sending. Thought that was the end of it. But wait! There's more!

I went to bed around three a.m. Took me a bit of time to get to sleep. I slept until I was awakened by a damned text from this person, followed by a fucking phone call in which she left a long rambling voicemail asking me to remove her from what ever loop she was involved WITH as it was making it difficult for her to get ready for church. At shortly after 0700. FFS!! I sent her a text informing her I hadn't sent anything since about 0130. And thanks for walking me up, dammit!

I then sent a text to the originator explaining that this so and so was trying to get out of whatever conversation you guys were having, without me, apparently, thankyouverymuch! Further explained that I didn't know this person and didn't appreciate being awakened by them for something I had nothing to do with. SO HANDLE IT, PLEASE. And then for good measure I blocked the unknown persons number.

Of course by this time I was fully awake and in a somewhat foul humor, so I got up and started the coffee.

Coffee makes everything better...

The rest of the day went by unremarkably. Except for the Black Eyed Peas we had for dinner.

Off to bed early tonight as I didn't get enough shut eye last night.

Wench was some sort of luddite as well. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I still get phone calls for "Ricardo". When I tell them that this is no longer "Ricardo"'s number, they quickly switch to English and apologize, and oh, he must have a new phone number but forgot to tell me!

Ya think?

That doesn't happen to me very often. Had this number for a long, long, time.

Someone I know online got a mattress delivered to this home the other day; apparently he had been drunk shopping on Amazon and had forgotten that he had made the purchase. In other words, drunk Internetting is not healthy, IMHO.

Say what?! What has this to do with anything in this post? Have you been drinking? *laughs*

Hah! I am sober as a Mormon Bishop. No, those people who were texting you were drunk; I have seen the bad things that can happen when people use the internet when drinking, and thus have internalized his experience as a warning. Your new friends are a minor example of that phenomena!

Heh. Not exactly a friend. I've blocked that particular number.

Seems likely that the group texting to me will stop as well. At least from the originator. Likely blistered her screen with my early morning text to cease and desist.

One of my father's old college friends is a judge.

Can confirm, "sober as a judge" does not apply to all.

Nah, they're human. Most of 'em anyway. Not real sure about the last one I went before. Still reelin' after that one.

I would have blocked the number, too. But not until I'd had some not so nice things to text back. I got a series of texts from someone that thought they had been stood up. Babe? I'm sorry babe. Where are you babe? I felt compelled to text back they had the wrong number.

Well I did say a few choice words in that last text I sent. AND THEN I BLOCKED THE WENCH.

Then I sent the text to my friends...

Happy New Year!

Sorry about the random texter and the early wake up. Ugh!

Stoopid people with fireworks...and gun shots? Ye Gods!

Yeah, last year needs a good kick in the butt. Onwards and upwards!

Sounds like an interesting evening! I've gotten accidentally added in one of those text chat groups and it's seriously annoying.

It seriously is. The last one I was a part of was my workgroup at Comcast. We worked the 3 to midnight shift. Which was fine as long as I was was working there. Fairly tight group too. We did stuff...

And I guess they wanted to make sure I still knew I was a part of the group after I left. Took me a while to get them ALL to drop me because I'm not keeping those hours any more. Still in touch with most of them, just not all at once!
